Congratulations!

KJ beforeAs any bride, visions of satin, and tulle danced in my head, as soon as my Fiance’ proposed. I knew I would have a hard time finding a gown, but I didn't expect it to impossible. At an astronomical weight, a size 22, and low self esteem, running crying from bridal shops with tiny samples was devastating.
Finally, I found IT! The consultant told me that I'd have to order a size 28,costing $2,500 more for the fabric. The manager took pity on me, and granted me a rush order for free if I came back in 2 months able to fit a size that didn't house enough lace to curtain each windows in the White House.
I took on this mountain, knowing it would be impossible to climb alone. I wanted to join bootcamp, but I couldn’t keep up. I promised myself I’d be ready by the April session. When my friend Sheana joined the March session, she asked about me. I was IN! Three weeks in, I'm down 15lbs, 2 sizes, and SO thankful that this is my new lifestyle. It's not only working, but I love it. The trainers, the group and Sheana, have all kept me going further than I ever thought I was capable of. I’ve never been happier, felt healthier, or felt positive that THIS is my new life. It's not just about my dress anymore, it's about LIVING. It's about feeling the best that I can feel each and every day.

Runner-Up Patrice

Patrice in HopkintonAs a child I was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), a loose connective tissue disorder that increases the elasticity of my ligaments and causes frequent joint dislocations. This disorder limited my ability to play organized sports and caused me to prematurely end what had been a successful dance career. It prevented me from fully engaging in many activities...until last summer.
Looking to shed a few pounds before my wedding, I enrolled in Ultimate Bootcamp. I was nervous about potentially injuring myself or not being able to fully participate in all of the activities. After working with the instructors for just a few days, those worries were put to rest. The trainers were mindful of any setbacks that I endured, but also encouraged me to push on in whatever capacity I could. The continuous exercise strengthened my muscles and ligaments, which proved beneficial for my joints.
I have now set my sights on the finish line of the 2009 Boston Marathon, something I had never considered doing. Before last summer, I had never run more than two miles at once! The momentum that began less than a year ago in Arsenal Park has given me the stronger body and stronger belief in my physical abilities that has carried me through the past few months of training. Ultimate Bootcamp taught me that with a good pair of sneakers and some determination, I can accomplish way more with my body than I ever thought possible.

Runner-Up Julie

Julie with bootcamp shirtsI have a love-hate relationship with Ultimate Bootcamp. I hate working out, but love the results, and now am a full-on junkie. Though I still keep four alarm clocks by my bed to get there in the morning, I actually want to get there (despite the pain that I know is coming).
There have been a lot of changes in my life after Bootcamp -- my running shoes no longer get dusty, water is my favorite drink, and a drawer stuffed with “graduation” T-shirts representing my Bootcamp badges of honor: full pushups (I used to stay on my knees); squat thrusts (I can’t do a lot, but I couldn’t do any before); and nightmares I have when someone whips out a copy of Green Eggs & Ham (take a class with Sandi and you’ll understand). Those shirts also represent new muscle definition, 6 triathlons (each faster than the one before), and the fact that I now look forward to working out and can’t skip more than 2 days in a row.
I am not “ripped” and haven’t lost a ton of weight, but I am in the best shape of my life, and I know I can do any exercise for an hour because I made it through Bootcamp with the toughest trainers around. The clichés are true – work harder and you feel better both mentally and physically. Bootcamp trainers say the hardest thing is showing up. They lie. The smartest thing is showing up.

Runner-Up Natalie
A lethargic post-college grad to training for a marathon: My 2 year journey with Ultimate Bootcamp

Natale at the Jimmy Fund WalkIt was April 2007 when I had my first experience with Ultimate Bootcamp. I was a college graduate, transitioning into corporate America and my personal health, life balance and exercise regime was being compromised in the process. April ’07 was my first four week bootcamp and my life has not been the same since. Not only did I get in amazing shape, but the fundamental workouts taught me about exercise and my body’s potential. Most importantly, I had fun. The workouts were tough don’t get me wrong, but the trainers integrated games, partner and team activities that made the mornings enjoyable. I looked forward to them.
I have since participated in other 4 week bootcamps and many Saturday blasts. This past fall, I considered becoming a certified trainer so I could teach the bootcamp for Peter and Jill. I have since put that vision aside to pursue my own personal dreams. Bootcamp trained, taught and challenged me. Since April ’07 I have participated in many charity walks, races, and even a woman’s triathlon. October ’09 I will be running the Chicago Marathon. I can’t help but think if I didn’t learn exercise could be so fun from UB, I doubt I would be training for a marathon right now. Ultimate Bootcamp transformed me from an out of shape lost college graduate to motivated young professional with health and fitness goals and I hope it does the same for your other students.
