Credentials: Peter Lavelle, who works out of Boston, is a personal trainer and cardio kickboxing instructor certified through the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and a sports nutritionist certified through the International Fitness Association (IFA). He's also the co-founder of Ultimate Bootcamp, an outdoor workout program for people of all fitness levels, now in its fourth year.

Philosophy: Lavelle mixes cardiovascular training with muscle-building resistance work and does the majority of his group training outdoors. "We use park benches for tricep dips and grass instead of floor mats for pushups," says Lavelle. "Fitness shouldn't be a chore; it should be something you're always looking forward to."

Top Three Tips: 1) Get your butt outta bed: "To burn fat, do an a.m. workout as opposed to a p.m. workout. Your body's heart rate and metabolism will be elevated all day." 2) Don't skip meals: "you'll need to keep your metabolism up, so go for five smaller meals a day, and have protein with each one." 3) Use a buddy: "Make sure you always lift with a spotter. Having somebody help you lift or rerack a weight will reduce your chance of injury, even it it's just someone you borrow for five minutes."
